Wichita State University graduates 2,400 students

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — More than 2,400 students were eligible to participate in Wichita State University`s 126th Spring Commencement on Saturday at Charles Koch Arena. The commencement was divided into three ceremonies:

  • 9 .m. — Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Fine Arts, Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College, and the College of Innovation and Design. The featured speaker was Shawn Chastain, executive coordinator of fine arts for Wichita Public Schools.

  • 1 p.m. — The College of Applied Studies and the College of Health Professions, with featured speaker Marshall Cho, a coach, educator and community builder.

  • 5 p.m. — The W. Frank Barton School of Business and the College of Engineering, with featured speaker Tanvir Arfi, CEO and founder of the Banyan Technologies Group.

Why flags will be lowered on Wednesday

Some graduates said the journey may have been challenging, but it was worth it. They have words of encouragement for students who are still on the journey.

“Anything in life that is worth it is going to be difficult, so to really just keep their heads up because they can do it,” Jade Driggs, Doctor of Philosophy graduate, said.

Classes for the fall semester begin in August.
