Town Profile
Located in central Hays County, between Austin and San Antonio, Wimberley has a population of just over 2,600 people. It has an artsy vibe, with a downtown square that welcomes shoppers and strollers. Market Days, held the first Saturday of every month, March through December, feature hundreds of vendors.

FM 32 from Wimberley to Blanco takes you across the "Devil's Backbone" on Edwards Plateau for some amazing Texas views.

Climb over 200 steps to the summit of "Old Baldy" and enjoy panoramic views of the Hill Country. The mountain's inside residential LaToya Circle.
Iconic Landmark: Jacob's Well
This artesian spring is the head waters of Cypress Creek and one phenomenal swimming hole. It’s part of the Jacob’s Well Natural Area in Wimberley. Swimming season runs from May 1 until Labor Day. You'll need to make advance reservations to swim because Hays County limits capacity to help protect the swimming area (Jacob's Well Reservations).The Trinity Aquifer, which fills the well, is 140 feet below the surface, delivering 68-degree water.
Yet Another Swimming Hole
The centerpiece of 126-acre Blue Hole Regional Park is, as you might guess, the Blue Hole Swimming Area, where a stunning natural pool is shaded by soaring cypress trees.
Not Exactly a Drive-In
The Corral Theatre is an open-air movie theatre, where you can "see the stars under the stars." And you can bring your lawn chair. They're open from May 4 to September 3, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The Corral has been around since 1948.
Snoozin'
You wouldn't expect so many interesting lodging options in a town with less than 3,000 residents, but there are some nifty places to stay in Wimberley, Texas.
At the Creek Haven Inn on Cypress Creek, choose from 14 rooms and suites, each one uniquely decorated, and enjoy a serene Hill Country setting.
For an elegant B&B, try the Blair House Inn, which has well-appointed rooms, a pool with a Texas view, fine dining and cooking schools, a spa, and an art gallery.
In neighboring New Branufels, find out what it's like to sleep in a tricked-out treehouse. River Road Cabins has 6 of them-with multiple bedrooms and all kinds of amenities-on a seasonal creek on the opposite side of River Road from the Guadalupe.
Sippin' and Chewin'
Venture out and see more HIll Country scenery with a few tours of local wineries and distilleries. You'll find plenty of maps and guides online. For a great dining option, locals swear by Ino'z Brew & Chew overlooking Cypress Creek.
Why We'd Move There
Home prices in Wimberley aren't cheap, averaging in the upper $400's and lower $500's for a newer home. But man, those views. And those creeks, rivers, and swimming holes! "There's a real entrepreneurial spirit in Wimberley, which makes it interesting," says Ross Quade of DrippingSpringsRealEstate.com. "It's located in the rural Hill Country near the Blanco River, but it's only an hour from Austin.
