Why people are calling on 'clean-shaven white men' to condemn London mosque attack
An incident near Finsbury Park Mosque in London in which a man died and 10 people were injured after a man drove a van into worshippers is being treated as a "terrorist attack," Met Police confirmed.
The first media reports were naturally wary of describing it as a terror incident — the headline on the first BBC story was "Vehicle hits pedestrians in Finsbury Park" — as they were waiting for more details to trickle in.

However, one media organisation overreached with a really weird tweet: "Clean-shaven white man arrested by police as at least 10 people are injured."

It was just a matter of time until people on Twitter weighed in, underlining the perceived double standard The Daily Mail and other tabloids have when reporting about Islamist attacks:
I just don't understand why the clean-shaven white male community didn't alert the authorities? https://t.co/M7aoKXOucI

People called on the "clean-shaven white male community" to condemn the attack, just like it routinely happens with Muslims:
When will the clean-shaven white male community condemn this attack?

Clean shaven? Why not freshly showered? Or bright eyed? Disgusting.

Others tried to fix the headline for The Daily Mail:

Other people condemned the attack on behalf of the "clean-shaven white male" community':
As a clean-shaven white male, I condemn this attack on behalf of my people #FinsburyPark https://t.co/zZgxvqaiuc

Glad we have that important detail of "clean shaven" before "white," the most important descriptor which changes the entire media coverage https://t.co/m2htvfKpB7
