Why you might see police at Coors Field Wednesday

DENVER (KDVR) — If you are traveling around the Coors Field area on Wednesday, you might notice a heavy police presence. But don’t worry, it’s just a training exercise.

On Wednesday, Coors Field will conduct a full-scale emergency exercise with the City and County of Denver and the federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

CBI to test Amber Alert notifications on Wednesday

During this exercise, law enforcement and safety experts will evaluate the existing protocols at Coors Field.

Because of this training, those around the ballpark may notice an increased presence of law enforcement and emergency response personnel during business hours. There may also be some road closures, so be sure to check the traffic map before you head out.

Those living and working in the area may hear noises and other activities related to the exercise, but Coors Field reiterates it’s just a training and there is no cause for alarm.

While this training is closed to the public, including media, Coors Field will post on social media and issue a “wrap-up” release at the conclusion of the training.

The Colorado Rockies are currently in Oakland playing against the Athletics. The team will return home for a game against the Phillies on Friday.
