Two leopards hidden in the trees - can you spot them? (Caters)

It looks like a wonderful viewpoint of a beautiful national park.

But virtually hidden in this photo of South Africa’s stunning Kruger National Park lurks great danger.

Hidden in the trees are two leopards, their famous spots hidden by the trees.

Leopards tend to use trees for protection of themselves and to keep their food away from other predators, such as lions or hyenas, which is what they were doing in this case according to the man who took the photograph.

The pictures were taken by South African guide and photographer Arno Pietersen, who was guiding tourists through the park at the time the leopards were spotted.

He said the cats were hiding from some predators lurking below.

“The leopards were trapped in the tree because the hyena was waiting on the ground for them,” said Arno, 30.

"There are lots of competition between the predators, and hyenas will try to kill leopard cubs if the opportunity arises."

Kruger Park, in South Africa’s north east, is one of the largest game reserves on the continent.

Last year, the park’s leopards were in the news when one of the big cats tried to attack tourists who were safely in a car at the time.
