Why Alabama basketball's Charles Bediako, Rylan Griffen were ejected vs Auburn in heated rivalry

Alabama's basketball matchup with Auburn got heated Wednesday and ended with Charles Bediako and Rylan Griffen being ejected along with an assistant coach.

The incident in the second half started when Alabama's Javion Quinerly and Auburn's Wendell Green Jr. were fighting for the ball before tensions rose as Green grabbed Quinerly's jersey.

Bediako and Griffen left the bench area and came to the far side of the court and crossed the half-court line, leading to their ejections for illegal participation. Quinerly and Green earned double technical fouls, while Auburn's Johni Broome was whistled for his fifth foul, causing him to leave the game.

The Tigers (19-11, 9-8 SEC) were leading 66-58 when the incident occurred with 7:30 left, but the Crimson Tide (26-4, 16-1) was able to tie the score at 75 to force overtime. Alabama was able to win 90-85 to clinch the full SEC Regular Season Championship

Bediako, who stands at 7 feet, has been averaging 5.8 points and 5.6 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per game. Bediako is a sophomore who was on the SEC All-Freshman team last season. He came to Alabama as a four-star prospect rated as the No. 4 center per 247Sports. Griffen has been averaging 6.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 16 minutes a game. Griffen is a freshman from Dallas, coming to the Crimson Tide as a four-star recruit and the No. 3 shooting guard per 247Sports.
