Here we go again… another old white man has been arrested for allegedly fatally shooting an unarmed, non-threatening Black person. This time, the man allegedly fired fatal shots at a Black Uber driver whom he mistook for someone trying to harm him.

On the morning of March 25, 61-year-old Lo-Letha Hall arrived at a home on South Charleston-Clifton Rd. to pick up a package for delivery as a part of her Uber job, according to the Clark County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office. Dash camera footage shows her approaching the front door but seconds later, retreating toward her car while 81-year-old William Brock followed her closely with a handgun.

In the video, Brock chases Hall around her car, screaming for help as he taunts her. “Gone! Get out of here!” he yelled at her. “Yeah, I know what you’re after!”

Wayment…how did we get from package delivery to lethal threatening?

The sheriff’s office said Brock received a threatening scam call that morning. Brock told investigators he received a notification from the contact or possible accomplice that said they’d be coming to his home to pick up a package.

Hall arrived at Brock’s home and “made no threats or assaults toward Mr. Brock, and made no demands, other than to ask about the package she was sent to retrieve through the Uber App,” according to the release.

Brock then allegedly produced a gun and demanded she give him the identities with the scammers he has spoken with. He is also accused of taking her cell phone and preventing her from leaving.

According to the release, Hall attempted to get in her car to leave and Brock shot her. He was injured on his head and ear in the “subsequent scuffle” and he shot her again, then after “further exchange,” shot her a third time.

Hall succumbed to her injuries later during surgery. Police said only after he shot hall did Brock call the police to report the incident.

We saw something similar happen when 84-year-old Andrew Lester shot and injured Ralph Yarl in a Kansas City neighborhood after mistaking the innocent teen for an intruder. Only after firing a shot at his arm and another grazing his head did Lester call the cops.

On Friday, police charged Brock with murder after finding Hall did not pose a threat at the time of the incident. He’s entered a not guilty plea, according to NBC 4i News. He faces 15 years in prison if convicted.
