White House Reveals Secret Beer Recipes

Who says the government doesn't process Freedom of Information Act requests in a timely manner?

Just 11 days after Reddit user Brody Burks submitted a request for the White House to divulge its recipe for "White House Honey Ale or other beer made by White House Staff," he, and the rest of us, got a response.

The White House on Saturday released two recipes for presidential brews, honey ale and honey porter. (No mention of how home brewers can get their hands on "1 lb White House Honey.")

On August 23, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters, "I am not aware of any plans at this time to divulge the secret recipe." But it appears pressure from social media gave way to transparency.

President Obama alluded to this document dump on Wednesday during a Reddit question and answer session: "It [the recipe] will be out soon! I can tell from first hand experience, it is tasty."

No word on Burks's secondary request: a bottle autographed by the president.

Below, watch White House Chef Sam Kass bottle the brew, and read the recipes revealed by the White House.
