White Castle High School teacher gets $50K grant to help improve STEM education

IBERVILLE PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A media specialist and STEM teacher at White Castle High School received a $50,000 grant. The grant will help fund the school’s STEM program.

Justin Williams was awarded the NextEra Energy Resources STEM grant during a presentation at the school on Thursday, May 2.

“Congratulations, Mr. Williams! Thanks to all of those in attendance to witness the presentation of this award. We look forward to the future of the STEM program here at White Castle High School,” the school said in a Facebook post.

The school said that the STEM Classroom Makeover Grant is a foundation initiative. It is meant to offer new learning opportunities for students in the classroom.

The school will use the funds to better their STEM education. They will buy a 3D printer, CAD system, drones and materials for a coding and robotics course, the post said.
