Whimsical Inspiration In The Middle Of A Forest

What happens when you combine a gorgeous muted-tone color palette, a whimsical boho design, and a majestic woodsy setting? The answer is this wedding inspiration shoot that's straight out of a dream. With nature at the forefront of the design and the work of a group of super talented vendors, this gallery all captured by Hello Inspira, is one like we've never seen before!

From Alana Klein of Swoon Weddings & Events... I’ve always had a fantasy of a bride lost in the woods, truly becoming one with Mother Nature. When Jenn from Hello Inspira approached me to collaborate on a shoot, I told her about this fantasy, and she was immediately on board. We came up with the idea to include bridesmaids – who wouldn’t want their best gals to be by their side while on a beautiful trek through the forest! Right away we knew we wanted to shoot at the amazing grounds of Kortright Centre for Conservation. The majestic trees make for a lavish backdrop in this warm and romantic setting. We wanted everything to reflect the beauty of Mother Nature. From the natural wood table and gold wrought iron chairs from Glamourous Affairs, to the irregular rimmed showplates from Plate Occasions – it all gave an organic feel. Handwritten calligraphy by Velsie Mak on raw-edged paper was simple and classic. The naked cake by Mademoiselle Vanilla was earthy, but oh-so wedding worthy with all the amazing sugar details that went into the flowers, berries and sprigs of lavender. The tarts and religieuse were also natural additions with tiny sugar flowers and real berries. Towering trees surrounded the lace tee-pee, providing a natural shelter for the bride and her maids, and created a cozy and intimate feel, deep within the forest. The bride’s Hayley Paige gown from Sash & Bustle with floral appliqué and flowy, chiffon skirt along with the raw cut halo engagement ring from Anouk Jewelry really gave off the earthy vibe we were going for. The second gown – a white sequined Truvelle dress with ribbon ties – gave a boho glam look, that, when paired with jewelry from Laura Jayne, shows future brides that you can blend organic and glam styles seamlessly. Hair and make-up was kept very natural looking. Loose waves and braids were the focus, with soft neutrals for the make-up. The jewelry for the bridesmaids included gold leaf hairpins and mixed metal cluster earrings. The bridesmaid dresses in soft neutrals and chiffon completed the overall look. We hope couples can take inspiration by mixing different looks to create more visual impact! From Kei Muto of Quill + Oak... Alana from Swoon Weddings & Events and I came up with a colour palette together. We knew we wanted a soft and neutral palette that would feel appropriate for a dinner beneath a forested canopy but we also wanted to add some brilliance in the form of juicy berry tones and pops of lavender and deep purple. The muted, dusty blush of Quicksand roses and sandy Sahara Bel spray roses with tinges of mauve set the backdrop for berry-toned scabiosa and delicate star-shaped clematis. The palette works perfectly with the bridesmaid dresses in smoky mauve and soft blush, as well as the bride’s gown in ivory and mocha. This is a perfect palette for the bride who wants something elegant and organic feeling but still wants to incorporate some colour. The floral flat lay concept emerged from my love for a beautiful flat lay (often used for showcasing stationery, jewelry and other details) and my desire to update the flower crowns that we’ve seen so much of. These two ideas came together to set the stage for some unique bridal portraits. Individual blooms were layered around Lauren, our beautiful model, to create the impression of a floral halo radiating from her as she lay serenely in the grass. The result is a stunning, sleeping beauty-esque portrait fit for an earthy, nature-loving bride.
