Where You Should Travel, According to Your Myers-Briggs Personality Type

While you may not be thinking about travel quite so much these days with school back in session and summer in the rearview mirror, it’s never too early to plan your next trip — or at least explore think of some new destinations to add to your bucket list.

Not everyone will fall in love with each city in the world, though, which is part of the reason travel is so fun. You just never know where you’ll feel most at home! Perhaps your Myers-Briggs personality type can lend a clue as to which locale may be a perfect fit for you. Don’t know your four-letter type? INFP: Austin

You like to explore new scenes, even connect with strangers in the process, and Austin is certainly a great place to do that. Between the heat, the food trucks, the music, parks and friendly people, don’t even make an itinerary (as if you would). Just go and float.

ESTJ: Barcelona, Spain

You like to travel, ESTJ. And perhaps more than any other type, you usually need a full-fledged vacation! Go somewhere you’ve never been. Barcelona is an amazing and historic city to expand your horizons... and it’s only a hop, skip, and jump from other incredible destinations in Spain like Madrid, Valencia, or Toledo.

ENTJ: New York

You’ve probably had your sights set on the Big Apple for some time now — and ENTJ, this place is definitely your city. You’ll feel most at home among the crowd here, and it’s a place you can go, explore, and then head home feeling like you can conquer anything.

INFJ: Oxford, UK

Oxford is home to one of the most prestigious universities in the world, where you may even want to study someday. And there’s also a ton more to enjoy: the river, botanic garden, historic old buildings, and gorgeous art will all set your heart aflutter.

ENFP: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

You thrive on energy and excitement — and in Rio, you can hit at least a couple of the beaches, the national parks, Jardim Botânico, and the Lapa neighborhood, which comes alive with light and sound at night.

ISFJ: Paris

Ah, the City of Love... Take your laptop (or an old-fashioned pen and paper), and let inspiration strike. Do you need to feel inspired to write? Draw? The cafes are perfect. The Eiffel Tower is a must-see. The food is always a hit. Even though it’s a classic, Paris is the one stamp you need in your passport. You just won’t feel like you’ve hit every item on your bucket list unless you visit at least once.

ESTP: Miami

When you take a trip, you like to fully unwind, and Miami is the place to do that. The city is always alive, from the heat, to the beaches, to the exciting nightlife. Don’t miss the busyness along Lincoln Road or the gorgeous blue waters along Key Biscayne.

ISTP: Reykjavík, Iceland

For an outdoor adventurer, there are few places more incredible than Reykjavík. There are tons of scenic landscapes to explore, which makes the locale perfect for hiking. Check out the sprawling waterfalls in the Thingvellir National Park, and the popular Blue Lagoon. You might even be able to view the Northern Lights.

ESFJ: Charleston

You love both liveliness and old-fashioned vibes, and Charleston has both. Visit The Battery, which is a strip of historic homes along Charleston Harbor, and take a walking tour on those famous cobblestone streets.

INTJ: Boston

Spend time in this great city that’s home to universities like Harvard and MIT. While you’re there, don’t forget to have some fun. The many museums of art and science are perfect places to unwind, and be sure to check out the much-talked-about restaurant scene.

ESFP: Santorini, Greece

More than any other type perhaps, you appreciate aesthetic appeal — and there’s something beautifully different about this incredible island sitting in the middle of the Aegean Sea. With all the architecture nestled cliffside, everywhere you go is a vision washed in sunshine.

ISTJ: Cadiz, Spain

It’s one of the oldest cities in the world, so it’ll definitely appeal to your side that loves tradition and history. You will definitely love the museums and cathedrals, but don’t forget to stop and look around you. Toss the itinerary for a day, and just explore. There’s fascinating architecture on every street, and some great beachside places to relax and unwind. (You deserve it.)

ISFP: Florence, Italy

For you, travel is a bit of a dreamy adventure, and you should eventually visit this city where the greatest Renaissance art lives, including famous works of Michelangelo and Raphael. Visit the gallerias, and get lost on the way. Cathedrals, palaces, and sculptures are around every corner, right along the waterfront.

ENFJ: Los Angeles

The entertainment industry is your jam, and this is the perfect place to explore that. Visit the Walk of Fame and Santa Monica Pier, but also check out under-discussed stuff like the oodles of museums and the farmer’s market.

ENTP: Tokyo, Japan

For someone who loves everything new and bold, head to Tokyo. Explore those bright, neon buildings and streets at night, and visit sites like the Imperial Palace and Hozomon gate during daytime hours.

INTP: San Francisco

You probably wouldn’t mind a solo trip, and San Fran is perfect for you, INTP. Try the Palace of Fine Arts Theater, Alcatraz Island, and Fisherman’s Wharf as starting points. That said, it wouldn’t be right if you didn’t simply get lost in the city after...
