Where to go for your pumpkin spice latte on National Coffee Day

It's not a New England Fall without a pumpkin spiced flavored coffee. The popular fall flavor is an essential to a coffee drinker's seasonal orders.

Whether you're a coffee enthusiast or an occasional coffee consumer celebrate National Coffee Day on Friday, Sept. 29 with a fall flavored caffeinated drink. National Coffee Day is celebrated annually on Sept. 29, and it was created by the National Coffee Association to knowledge the history of how the coffee industry spread into American culture and economy.

In honor of National Coffee Day and of the Fall season here are some local business where you can get a seasonal flavored caffeinated drink in or around Gardner.

Kros On the Common

This brunch spot in Templeton quickly became a local favorite. Kros On the Common has a menu that changes seasonally, filled with careful thought-out dishes made with locally sourced ingredients including specialty coffee beverages.

The restaurant has a few pumpkin spice flavored drinks that range from the traditional flavored coffee to a pumpkin pie Martini. Customers can order a regular iced coffee or hot coffee with pumpkin syrup flavoring. An iced coffee cost $2 and a hot coffee cost $1.25, adding flavored syrups like pumpkin or caramel is an addition 25 cents.

Kros On the Common is open Wednesday through Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mountainside Bakery & Cafe

Both coffee enthusiasts and occasional coffee consumers can relax surrounded by nature while enjoying a Fall flavored latte at Mountainside Bakery & Café in Princeton.

The cafe has a wide variety of hot and cold caffeinated beverages from pumpkin spice lattes to dirty chai lattes. They also have a latte of the day that changes daily.

The cafe and bakery operate from the historic Wachusett Mountain Superintendent's House in the Wachusett Mountain State Reservation. An 18-minute drive from Gardner and are open from Thursday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Spotted Cow Cafe

The Coffee Corner at The Spotted Cow Café in Barre is a cozy room welcoming all kinds of coffee drinkers with a menu filled with unique homemade pastries and specialty coffee flights.

The café has recently revealed their Fall Festive Coffee Flight that include four different special crafted flavors. The café baristas recommend customers to pair the flight with one of their Pumpkin Cheesecake Muffins.

The Spotted Cow Café is a 26-minute drive from Gardner. The café is usually open every day from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Identity Coffee

Identity Coffee in Rindge, New Hampshire is a specialty coffee shop worthy of a trip to New Hampshire. Two weeks ago, the Identity Coffee baristas revealed four Fall season beverages that are available hot or iced.

  • Cinnamon Roll Latte

  • Spiced Apple Cider

From Gardner, the coffee shop is a 24-minute drive but it's much closer to Winchendon residents, only a 12-minute drive. Fall season hours are Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and they are closed Sundays.
