What's that being built at East Commerce and McIngvale in Hernando?
A new hotel line that's perfect for visitors planning a lengthy trip is coming to Hernando.
A Home2 Suites hotel is under construction at 1052 East Commerce St., less than half a mile from Interstate 55.
Home2 Suites is a line of extended-stay hotels from Hilton. The hotel line, which is headquartered in Memphis, offers multiple amenities not often found in other hotels.
The larger one-bedroom suites are notable for including full-size kitchens with a refrigerator, dishwasher, sink, microwave, toaster, utensils, and real china dishes. Stove-top burners are available upon request as well.
There are also EV car chargers, outdoor patio space and a pet-friendly policy at some locations. The usual complimentary breakfast, saline pools, and a combined laundry and gym can also be found in a Home2 Suites.

This Home2 Suites will be the first of its kind in Hernando, and the third location in DeSoto County. One-night-stay prices in May at the Olive Branch location varied between $135 and $237, with a median price of $177, so expect a similar pricing for the Hernando location.
An estimated opening date has not yet been announced, but Hernando planning director Austin Cardosi said construction was moving quickly.
Hilton did not respond to requests for comment about the project.
