A wet start to the week around Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Grab that rain gear and make sure the windshield wipers are good to go!

As we kick off our new week and wrap up the month of April, we’ll see plenty of rain showers with a chance of isolated thunderstorms in Portland in the afternoon and evening hours on both Monday and Tuesday.

Make sure to have the rain jacket handy, especially for the morning hours of both Monday and Tuesday. We could see just over an inch of rain total at PDX over the next two days. While we continue to see active weather at the start of the week, we’ll also continue to have below normal daytime highs. Highs are only expected to reach the mid 50s around the metro area.

Mountain Snow

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect now and will last until 3 p.m. Monday for the west slopes of the Northern and Central Oregon Cascades. Two to eight inches of snow is expected above 4,000 feet.

Mid-Week Changes in Portland

It’s not until mid-week, when we start to see more mild weather throughout the valley. Our temps will also start to rise by then as well.

As of right now, Wednesday looks to be mainly dry with scattered showers returning Thursday and lasting into the weekend. The amount of dry time versus rainy moments late in the week is still up in the air because weather models are not yet in agreement.
