He shot and killed the homeowner and took the homeowner's vehicle, according to allegations on the Ector County Sheriff's Office Facebook.

The vehicle was described as a black 2014 Ford Mustang. Myrick had fled the scene.

"The stolen vehicle was located later that day by law enforcement, and Myrick then led authorities from multiple agencies on a cross-county pursuit that concluded in Irion County on RM 2469, approximately five miles northwest of Mertzon," according to the Irion County Sheriff's Office. "Myrick then crashed the vehicle and fled on foot, leading to a multi-agency manhunt that lasted throughout the night and into the next day."

Around 4 p.m. Tuesday, the Irion County Sheriff's Office advised residents to avoid the area of Park View Street between Duncan and Fayette where there was heavy police activity.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers located Myrick near the intersection of Duncan Avenue and North Broadway Street in Mertzon where an officer-involved shooting took place.

"The manhunt for the suspect wanted in connection with murder in Ector County has ended," the Sheriff's Office said over five hours later. "The man believed to be the murder suspect is deceased following an officer-involved shooting earlier today."

Texas Rangers are investigating the officer-involved shooting.

"As this is an ongoing investigation, no additional information," Irion County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post.
