West Elmira garage catches fire
WEST ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — A vehicle and garage caught fire in West Elmira on Wednesday afternoon.
A fire was reported on West Water Street between Scott Avenue and Oakdale Drive around 4 p.m. on April 3. According to an 18 News Reporter at the scene, a detached garage and the pickup truck inside caught on fire.
Flames and smoke could be seen from the street, and the garage was heavily damaged. The fire did not spread to the house. An image of the damage can be seen below.
The West Elmira Police Department temporarily diverted West Water Street traffic down Lexington Avenue and reopened one lane of the roadway around 4:45 p.m.
The West Elmira Fire Department and the Elmira Fire Department responded to the scene of the fire.
