NEW PHILADELPHIA ‒ Sometime this fall, Weininger Dental will be moving into a new 3,500-square-foot office on the west side of New Philadelphia.

The practice is currently in a building at 249 Fair Ave. NW. The new office, estimated to cost around $920,000, will stand on a nearly one-acre plot at 170 Marketplace Commons SW, behind Buffalo Wild Wings on West High Avenue. Ground has already been broken on the project. Tucson, Inc., of New Philadelphia is the contractor.

"We've kind of reached capacity here. We're growing and expanding. A lot of dentists in the area have been retiring, so we're seeing a lot of influx of new patients," said Dr. Nick Weininger, who owns the practice.

More space to see patients

The current facility has four operatories. The new office will have seven. Weininger also plans on added another dental hygienist and another assistant to see patients more quickly and efficiently. He has eight employees right now.

The new office will have its own parking lot. His current office relies on on-street parking, which can be difficult when nearby New Philadelphia High School is in session.

Weininger Dental is currently located at 249 Fair Ave NW in New Philadelphia, but will move later this year when a new office is completed.

There will also be a little fenced in area for his dog, Stubbs, a 3-year-old Corgi, that comes to work with him every day. "She hangs out in my office while I see patients all day," he said.

The new office is expected to open in September or October, depending on the weather.

Weininger said it is a good location for an office. "It's nice to be able to start fresh and build a new office. As I was looking and meeting with architects, the big thing they said is this is something you're probably only going to do once in your life. I see why they say that. It's a lot of stress. They said, have some of fun with it and make sure you make it your own and something you want, because you'll be here for a long time."

Father and son

Weininger is a 2013 graduate of Dover High School. He did his undergraduate work and went to dental school at Ohio State University. He graduated from dental school in 2020 and purchased the practice from his father, Dr. Dan Weininger. The elder Weininger has practiced dentistry in New Philadelphia since 1986.

Dan Weininger continues to work two half days a week.

"That's really nice. I enjoy working with him. It's been awesome to watch him and learn from him, bring some new technologies in and show him some things. But mostly I learn from him," Nick Weininger said.

He said he is looking forward to moving into the new building.

"I'm excited for the new building, getting in there and being able to bring a lot of new technology in here and expanding what we're able to do with the practice and treat more people and take care of this community," he said. "I know there's a huge dental need in this area. That was something that was important to me when I graduated was getting back and taking care of everybody. Hopefully, this space will allow us to see more people and treat more people."
