Wendy Williams Blasts Richard Simmons for Suing Tabloids

On The Wendy Williams Show, the host took some time to talk about Richard Simmons and what’s going on with him. Simmons is currently suing The National Enquirer, Radar Online, and American Media, which owns the publications, for reporting that he is transitioning to a woman, a claim his lawyers state is false.

The 68-year-old has recently shied away from living his life in the public eye, and one might think Williams would be on his side in all this, especially since she referred to him as a “great friend to the show,” and he has made various appearances on it in years past. However, the talk-show host seems to think Simmons does not have a right to his privacy, claiming, “You went away from us four years ago and we didn’t know where you were.” She added: “You’ve got products coming out that nobody cares to buy because you’ve lost your credibility as a life coach or whatever it is that you want to be because you disappeared from us … I just believe, Richard, that your comeback is an epic fail.”
