DENVER (KDVR) – A lot happened this week between high wind speeds, protests and even a Coloradan on a dating show. Even if you followed along with local headlines all week, you might’ve missed these major events in the state.

Whether you’re “in the know” or want to test out your current events knowledge, here are some of the top stories throughout the week.

Question 1:

Believe it or not, several teens fell into an abandoned missile silo over the weekend. The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office rescued eight teens who allegedly trespassed onto the land and made their way to the silo where rescuers were called to the scene around 3:30 a.m. One teen fell over 30 feet.


Question 2:

Winds reached up to 96 mph in Colorado on Sunday and Monday. The wind was so strong it knocked down an overhead sign on Interstate 25, causing major traffic during the morning commute. The sign hit a semi on the way down and it took workers hours to remove the pole from the road.


Question 3:

You may have seen the infamous video of Jamal Murray throwing a heating pack onto the court during the Nuggets’ second game of the series against the Minnesota Timberwolves. He threw multiple things toward the referee, leading to a six-figure fine, but at least he’s not suspended for Game 3.


Question 4:

Migrants sent a list of demands to the mayor’s office and said that if these demands are met, they will voluntarily stay in city-funded shelters. Among these demands are medical care, employment support and a change in living conditions.


Question 5:

A principal at Black Forest Hills Elementary School in Aurora was fired by the Cherry Creek School District after they failed to put the school on secure status after an attempted kidnapping in April. There is an acting principal for the rest of the year until the position is replaced next year.


Question 6:

Pro-Palestinian protesters set up an encampment at the University of Denver. On Thursday, they began setting up tents in front of the University of Denver’s administration building on Carnegie Green. Just as they were starting to gather, another group of counter-protesters showed up, making for some tense moments.


Question 7:

Back in 2006, Colorado voters approved Amendment 43. The amendment added language to the state’s constitution defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman. After Polis’ signature on Wednesday, Colorado voters will now decide if that language should stay in the constitution.


Question 8:

While there was actually an amusement park in Denver called Manhattan Beach, Disney created a no-longer-standing amusement park on Colorado Boulevard. The amusement park was called Celebrity Sports Center and it was home to an Olympic-sized pool, water slides, 80 lanes of bowling, a shooting gallery, 300 arcade games, several fine-dining restaurants and even a beauty salon.


Question 9:

On Monday, Steve from the “Slacker and Steve” show announced that he is leaving after 18 years on the local radio station. It was a mutual decision as they said things behind the scenes had changed and it was time to move on.


Question 10:

Brandon Rogers, a potato and barley farmer from Center, Colorado, was looking for someone to share his life with in his one-stop town – and on the finale of “Farmer Wants a Wife” on Thursday, he may have found his life partner.
