Weis donates $10K for Haven Ministry expansion project

Apr. 29—SUNBURY — Weis Markets on Monday announced it has donated $10,000 to Haven Ministry's shelter expansion project.

This donation will support the organization's expansion project at its current facility located at 1043 South Front St. The expansion will add a two-story addition, including nine client rooms and a new laundry facility.

"We believe in the importance of supporting initiatives that uplift and empower our local communities," said Maria Rizzo, Weis Markets vice president of marketing and advertising.

Haven Ministry is a homeless shelter in Sunbury primarily serving men, women and families from Northumberland, Snyder, and Union counties.

"We offer housing, food, and daily necessities to the less fortunate in our area," said Haven Ministry Executive Director Christy Zeigler. "Every day we get at least eight to ten calls from people looking for help."
