The weirdest thing about a Trump vs. Biden rematch

What’s the weirdest thing about a Trump vs. Biden rematch? The fact that both candidates have already done the job could bring an unusual dynamic to the race. Yahoo News' Jon Ward shares further insight into how the State of the Union address also factors into all of this.

JON WARD: So after Super Tuesday, we are now firmly in the general election. It is as we had thought for a while going to be President Biden versus former President Donald Trump. It's hard to think of another presidential election in recent history, maybe in American history, where the two candidates have been so flawed and so vulnerable. President Biden is facing questions about his age and his capacity.

Former President Trump, of course, is being prosecuted for multiple felonies. He tried to overturn the last election, and he has faced about a third of Republican primary voters who have voted against him so far. Really, for the next several months in the 2024 election, the more that the focus is on Trump and his problems, the better it is for Biden and vice versa.

So the State of the Union address, could be in some ways an opportunity for Biden to reassure some voters about his age, about his capacity. But at the same time, he is 81. He is moving slowly. So there's also a lot of risk and vulnerability in this moment where there's going to be a very bright spotlight on him.
