“My 600-Lb Life” gave an update on Brittani and Sean, two of the saddest stories from Season 4. At her heaviest Brittani weighed 605 pounds. Sean was one of the heaviest subjects, tipping the scale at more than 900 pounds.
Since viewers saw her last, Brittani lost 300 pounds, Monsters and Critics wrote Wednesday. Though losing half her body weight was a success, she was left with hanging skin that continued to weigh her down. The skin lost its elasticity and remained behind even though she lost the weight. To continue with her weight loss journey, she was scheduled to get skin removal surgery.
Brittani posts updates about her health to her Facebook page, which boasts more than 6,000 followers. “This is for any lovelies who would like to follow me. This is a positive environment. If you would like to post that’s is awesome. Just make it positive!” Brittani’s profile description reads.
Similar to Brittani, Sean lost more than 300 pounds after having weight loss surgery, Monster and Critics reported. Even though he lost hundreds of pounds, he remained immobile. Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, the Houston doctor that performs all the weight loss surgeries on the unscripted TLC series, suspected his mother, Renee, was to blame for his inability to walk.
The doctor accused the mother and son of being co-dependent on each other. In a preview clip for Wednesday’s episode, Sean’s mother was worried about his health.
“I don’t care about the weight loss right now. I care that my kid’s in pain,” she said.
It seemed like his life might be at risk. The cameras showed Sean laying in a hospital bed and his mother saying, “I don’t Sean’s going to make it.”
Before the weight loss, the 27-year-old was unable to take care of himself. That included bathing and getting up to go to the bathroom.
“Every day I wake up I have to face the reality of what my life has become. I am so big now; I can hardly move,” he said during his Season 4 episode, which aired last year. “All I can do on my own is skooch to the end of my bed, go to the bathroom and see if my mom is awake.”
He used a bar that hung above his bed to sit up and would pee in a bucket. “I can't do anything for myself anymore,” he told the cameras. “I can get up, but I can only walk a few steps, so I just stay here in this bed no matter what.”
It go to the point where it was too difficult for Renee to take care of Sean on her own and she had to ask her friend, Kate, for help. “Sean has gotten so big, I can't handle cleaning him on my own anymore, and it is really important that he stays clean because he gets open sores really easily,” Renee confessed.
“My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now?” airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on TLC.
