Weekly Arkansas Department of Health flu report shows flu activity remains high

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The latest flu report from the Arkansas Department of Health shows the state continues to remain high.

The March 9 weekly report kept Arkansas at a 10 on the 13-point scale used by reporting agencies for the second consecutive week.

11 flu deaths, 42 pneumonia-related deaths and nine COVID-19-related deaths were reported by ADH.

114 COVID deaths have been reported since the start of 2024. 89 flu deaths have been reported since October 1, 2023, the report says.

58 of the 89 deaths have been those ages 65 and over.

32 flu outbreaks have been reported from nursing homes and other congregate setting, up four from the previous week.
