Wednesday storms destroy structures in Monett, damage assessment in progress

NEAR MONETT, Mo. — Wednesday’s storms have left the Monett area with moderate damages.

Reports have come in of several trees blocking roads, destruction of rural buildings, but fortunately, no injuries reported so far.

Power lines, roofs, structures, and more were damaged along Highway 60, where most of the major damage was localized. — Damage caused by what Lawrence County Sheriff Brad DeLay called a likely tornado, but this hasn’t been confirmed by officials at this time.

The family is safe, and Liberty Utilities is working to clear power lines from the road.
