CHARLOTTE, N.C. (PINPOINT WEATHER) — Wednesday is off to a foggy start with visibility reduced to a quarter mile or less at times.

This has sparked a Dense Fog Advisory for Mecklenburg County, Iredell County, and areas west of I-77 through 10 AM this morning. Fog will begin to burn off shortly after sunrise but morning showers still make for some wet roadways for our morning commute.

Rain tapers off as sunshine peaks through the clouds Wednesday afternoon, helping temperatures peak near 80 degrees. Pockets of sunshine will enhance instability in the atmosphere eventually sparking isolated storms.

Storms this afternoon will have the ability to produce some damaging winds and large hail putting the Queen City under a Slight Risk for Severe Weather for today. As of right now, it looks as though the significant severe risk will be to our east later today.

Storms will taper off this evening as lows dip into the low 60s heading into Thursday. High pressure will dominate to kick off the second half of the work week, giving us a break in rain and storm chances and a good amount of sunshine for the day.

Low 80s will finish off the week Thursday & Friday with storm chances returning Friday afternoon. We’ll see spotty storms and near 80 degrees through the weekend. Early next week will see storms dwindle and low 80s lock in.
