Next-Gen Nissan GT-R Hitting Showrooms in 2015

It’s been a long time coming for a new and improved GT-R. Over the years we’ve seen a few nips here, a few tucks there, but word is that a much-needed, much newer Godzilla is on the way.

Sitting down with the folks over at Motor Trend at a recent press conference, Nissan told the magazine that that the next iteration of the supercar would arrive in three years. This means the GT-R will hit showrooms late 2015, as a “2016MY” model.

This coincides with recent reports and plans by automakers such as Honda and Audi to release hybrid reboots of their top sportscars, the NSX and R8, respectively.

Not only will we see an all-new GT-R in 2016, but Nissan reps also went on to say that the hopped-up Nismo version of the current generation will be here by 2014 to finish off the lineup before the new supercar arrives. For now, we’ll be waiting with bated breath.
