Mercedes-Benz has made sure to market its CLA as the sporty, fun, new sedan we’ve all been longing for. And with a base price of just under $30K, it makes it the most affordable vehicle in the Mercedes lineup as well.
Now, with the Frankfurt Motor Show only a few days away, the automaker has made its CLA a bit more sporty with the introduction of the CLA 45 AMG Racing Series Concept. A preview of a “customer sports racing car from Mercedes-AMG.”
Shedding a healthy amount of weight, and tacking on loads of carbon fiber, the Racing Series concept comes with a turbocharged version of the standard 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, paired to a SPEEDSHIFT DCT7 shiftable automatic transmission.
Exterior features include a menacing racing guise ranging from a massive rear wing, to a revised front end, to a new set of racing wheels and tires; and anything in-between. The racing look is topped off with a custom red, silver and black livery, including the “45″ moniker plastered on the side panel.
The concept will make its first world appearance next week at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.
