UPDATE: Power restored to REU and PG&E customers after outages Thursday morning

Update at 11 a.m.

Power has been restored to Redding Electric Utility customers in east and west Redding, after two outages Thursday morning, according to REU's power outage map.

Update at 9:40 a.m.

Redding Electric Utility reported two power outages Thursday morning. The agency reported more than 250 customers were without power in the area of Highway 44, Shasta View Drive and down to Hartnell Avenue in east Redding. Power was expected to be restored by 10:35 a.m., officials said.

Another outage involving between 51 and 250 customers was reported in the area of Eureka Way and Airpark Drive in west Redding. REU officials expected to have power restored by 11:09 a.m.

More than 2,000 customers east of Redding were without power for a short time Thursday morning due to a winter storm that has hit the North State.

The power was restored by 9:30 a.m., according to Pacific Gas & Electric Co.'s outage map

PG&E reported that approximately 2,210 customers did not have power at one time.

"Our preliminary determination is that your outage was caused by the weather," the utility stated on its website.

The outage was first reported just after 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

The outage stretched from Bella Vista south along Deschutes Road to Dersch Road southeast of Redding Regional Airport.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory through 4 a.m. Saturday for much of the northern Sacramento Valley. Winds gusts could exceed 40 mph Thursday.

The winds are expected to start calming down Thursday night and into Friday.

Meanwhile, there is a winter storm warning for the mountains and foothills of Shasta County until 10 a.m. Saturday.
