Weather conditions to temporarily close Sugar Sand Festival

CLEARWATER BEACH, Fla. (WFLA) — The City of Clearwater announced on Wednesday that their annual Sugar Sand Festival will be closed for part of the day on Thursday due to weather.

Incoming high winds and anticipated storms will temporarily close the festival out of precaution from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The festival is expected to reopen until 9 p.m.

Despite this closure, the city expects sand-sational weather throughout the weekend.

The festival goes through Sunday, April 14. On Friday and Saturday, the exhibit will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The Sugar Sand Festival at Pier 60, located at 1 Causeway Boulevard in Clearwater Beach, is celebrating its 10th year with the theme “Sands of Times,” as 16 professional sand sculptors create and transform sand into art.
