WEATHER AWARE: Severe storms possible tonight

Columbus, Ga (WRBL)- Tracking a strong cold front that has been producing severe weather over the past 24 hours. As it continue to move into the News 3 area, there is an increased risk for severe weather later tonight.

Changes from yesterday’s forecast: The ENITRE News 3 area has been upgraded to a 3 out of 5 risk (enhanced) starting at 10PM ET tonight. This means that there is an increased risk of seeing winds above 70mph, large hail, and there is a greater chance for tornadoes. One or two of these could be strong.

The timing remains the same from yesterday. Moving into our Alabama counties at roughly 11 PM ET/ 10PM CT/ The line will continue into Muscogee, Harris, Talbot, and Barbour by 2AM. The entire line will clear by 5AM ET.

Before these storms move through, now is the time to go over your weather safety plan and make sure you know where your safe place is.

Behind this cold front we will stay windy through the end of the week, with gusts reach up to 30 mph at time. Winds finally calm down this weekend. Temperatures also trend cooler as highs only get into the 60s tomorrow afternoon. By Saturday lows will drop into the 30s for many areas.
