WEATHER AWARE: Heavy rain and storms move in for the start of the week

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Clouds have started to spill into the region this afternoon and evening. Expect more clouds and likely overcast by tonight. By morning expect light showers as you start your day and could impact your morning commute.

There will be a few breaks in the showers throughout the morning on Monday with coverage increasing throughout the day. Likely becoming heavier through the afternoon with flash flooding and flooding issues possibly occurring. We are looking at roughly 1-4” of rainfall with higher totals expected for our southern counties.

Monday evening we see a little bit of a lull in the action before another wave of thunderstorms, likely severe, moves through early Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon clouds break; however, the front is still not fully through the region so a few showers and thunderstorms could still be possible by Tuesday evening.

We see a break from the storms right around the midweek as temperatures return more seasonal in the mid 80s, but that will be short lived as another system arrives for the end of the week.

System number two arrives with more clouds for Friday along with showers and storms. Coverage will likely be scattered through Saturday as the weather pattern remains unsettled in the extended forecast.
