Weather alert: Windsor, Greeley under tornado watch for May 20

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for areas including Windsor and Greeley.

The watch is in effect until 11 p.m. Monday, May 20, for Weld, Logan, Morgan, Sedgwick, Phillips, Washington and Yuma counties. Along with Windsor and Greeley, the following towns are included in the watch area: Akron, Fort Morgan, Sterling, Holyoke and Julesburg.

Fort Collins is just west of the watch area.

Here's what weather conditions are possible Monday afternoon, according to the weather service

Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop and possibly include damaging hail and winds and even a couple tornadoes.

Stronger storms are expected to begin developing over the southern and eastern portions of metro Denver or the Palmer Divide toward mid- to late afternoon, becoming more numerous as they spread northeast across the plains through Monday evening.

There is a risk of tornadoes in the south and east portions of the metro Denver area mid- to late afternoon.

The greatest risk of severe weather increases across the northeast plains through this evening.
