Morning storms ahead of a cold front

A strong cold front will bring storms to our area this morning and afternoon; along with cooler air. A cold front will move through today with showers and thunderstorms in the morning through lunchtime. There is a marginal risk (level 1) for severe thunderstorms with the main damaging wind. As the storms approach the coast around lunchtime, and it warms up, there will be a slight chance (2%) for a brief tornado. The storms will push offshore this afternoon and skies will gradually clear. It will be windy in the afternoon with wind gusts in the 30s to nearly 40 mph and highs in the mid-70s.

Much cooler weather will move in tonight. We will see sunshine Thursday through the weekend, but it will be cool with high temperatures in the 60s. A dry cold front will move through Thursday night, dropping Friday’s highs down a few degrees. Friday and Saturday night, some spots away from the coast will cool into the 30s. Warmer weather will return next week with highs possibly climbing back to near 80 degrees on Tuesday.
