WCSO: Man arrested after attempting to evade traffic stop

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A man was arrested after allegedly attempting to evade a traffic stop in Washington County, Tennessee Sunday night.

The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) reports deputies were conducting speed enforcement in the 1700 block of Highway 107 when they clocked a vehicle driving 96 mph in a 55 zone.

When deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver, later identified by police as Jesse Eastep, 34, began to drive erratically, the sheriff’s office stated.

Eastep then pulled off the road in the 1100 block of Highway 107. Deputies reportedly saw Eastep move from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat.

Crime Watch

Deputies later learned that Eastep was driving on a revoked license, the WCSO reported. Occupants in the vehicle confirmed to police that Eastep was driving and allegedly made the passenger switch seats.

Eastep was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and charged with the following:

  • Three counts of reckless endangerment

  • Driving on a revoked license

  • Evading arrest

  • Speeding

As of Monday, Eastep is being held on a $14,000 bond. He is set to appear in court Monday.
