WCSO: Leander carjacking leads to pursuit

LEANDER, Texas (KXAN) — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a call regarding a robbery involving a vehicle theft in Leander early Wednesday.

According to WCSO, the caller said his car was stolen by two men with guns near the 700 block of Baker Lane.

WCSO said deputies found the vehicle on US-183, and it was moving quickly. WCSO said a short pursuit ensued, but deputies briefly lost sight of the vehicle. It was later found wrecked near US-183 and FM 2243.

According to the sheriff’s office, it was believed two suspects ran into the nearby wooded area while a third person in the vehicle was detained and questioned.

WCSO said a K9 unit was utilized to search the area for the two suspects, but they were not found. The sheriff’s office described the suspects as two men, one possibly of Hispanic descent.

WCSO said its Criminal Investigations Division would continue to investigate the incident and asked for public assistance for any information related to this incident.
