Wayne woman, 54, dies in North Haledon single-car crash

NORTH HALEDON — A Wayne woman was killed in a one-car crash in the borough early Monday morning.

Merita Ziba, 54, of Wayne was killed in a crash on the property of Holland Christian Home shortly before 6 a.m., police Lt. David Parenta said.

Police received multiple calls at about 5:38 a.m. about a car and driver down an embankment near 151 Graham Ave., and when they arrived they found that Ziba had been thrown from her vehicle, Parenta said.

The first responders and a nurse from Holland Christian Home performed CPR until paramedics from St. Joseph’s University Hospital arrived. Ziba was pronounced dead at the scene, Parenta said.

The North Haledon Police Department does not know of any witnesses to this crash and is asking anyone with more information to call 973-423-1111.
