Wayne County man dies in crash on Route 196 in Dreher Twp.

Jul. 1—A Wayne County man died Saturday morning in a one-vehicle crash on Route 196, police said.

Kenneth Satterfield, 65, of Newfoundland suffered fatal injuries in the crash that occurred at 6:43 a.m. 167 feet south of Nevin Road, according to Pennsylvania State Police in Honesdale.

Satterfield was driving south on Route 196 (South Turnpike Road) in a 2015 Ford Escape that, for unknown reasons, left the road on a curve, police said.

The vehicle crossed the northbound lane, traveled off the east shoulder of Route 196 and hit a utility pole along the road. The Ford continued south, hit a tree, overturned and ended up off the east side of the road facing north.

Satterfield, who was using a lap and shoulder belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County coroner's office, police said.
