Wawa president answers urban legend over Sheetz vs Wawa ‘agreement’

(WHTM)– You don’t find answers to urban legends very often, if sometimes ever, but one that has caused a split in Pennsylvania for years just has been.

“Sheetz or Wawa,” is one of the most iconic questions asked in Pennsylvania and is usually answered by comparing the food that each place offers.

Everyone knows that part of the state is known as “Wawa’s territory” and the other part as “Sheetz territory” but are there these imaginary boundary lines that separate the two?

Well, who better to ask than Wawa President Brian Schaller if the urban legend that the two came to an agreement to stay out of each other’s “turf” is real? And what better time than an event on Wednesday that was celebrating more stores coming to the Midstate?

So, according to Schaller, no, there is no such thing as a “Wawa turf” or “Sheetz turf” and the two companies never agreed about staying within certain boundaries.

“We respect the Sheetz company immensely, we both do food and beverages. We compete with them today in about 60 stores in Virginia, Lancaster a little bit, so this won’t be the first time,” Schaller said during the event in Harrisburg on Wednesday.
