Waverly boys bowling takes silver at states

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WETM) – The Waverly Wolverines have made school history once again.

Waverly boys bowling claimed their highest finish ever at states, on Friday. The Wolverines took the NYSPHSAA Division 2 silver medal at AMF Strike N Spare Lanes in Syracuse, after combining for a 6-game grand total score of 6,030 points. The Wolverines finished 452 points behind the champions West Seneca East, but took home their first ever runner-up plaque in school history.

Trenton Sindoni led Waverly’s scoring with a 6-game total of 1,311, placing him 6th overall. Behind Sindoni, Tristan Campbell (17th) added 1,229, Derek Johnson (19th) scored 1,213, Dominick Wood (23rd) totaled 1,181, and Carter Hayes (30th) scored 1,096. Maison Apgar, Roger Webster, and Colten Santalucia backed up Waverly’s effort.

With Waverly opening the weekend, several other Section IV bowlers, and teams will look for NYSPHSAA hardware. On Saturday, Elmira and Candor will send 4 bowlers to the individual championship. Additionally, the Corning boys will try for Division 1 gold on Sunday.
