Waukegan man arrested, charged with 7 counts of armed robbery, kidnapping and aggravated vehicular hijacking

CHICAGO — The Chicago Police Department announced a man from Waukegan was arrested and charged Tuesday with more than a half dozen felonies in connection to a string of armed robberies, kidnappings and carjackings in the city last year.

CPD said Antoine Perteet, a 33-year-old resident of Waukegan, was charged with three felony counts of robbery while armed with a firearm, three felony counts of kidnapping while armed with a firearm and one felony count of aggravated vehicular hijacking while armed with a firearm.

Perteet was arrested by members of CPD’s Vehicular Hijacking Task Force on March 26, 2024 in the 3000 Block of South Sacramento Avenue in Little Village, where he was identified as the offender responsible for holding victims against their will and robbing them at gunpoint.

Incident times, locations and additional details

  • June 21, 2023: 1600 block of South Springfield Avenue where a 33-year-old man was a victim of an armed vehicular hijacking.

  • June 24, 2023: 2100 block of South Millard Avenue where a 51-year-old man was the victim.

  • July 13, 2023: 1800 block of South Springfield Avenue where a 30-year-old man was the victim.

Police said Perteet was taken into custody and charged accordingly.
