WaterFire to hold December lighting after anonymous donation; partnering with Rescue Mission

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - WaterFire will hold a special holiday lighting again this year.

The non-profit arts organization that stages elaborate bonfire lightings in Providence's downtown rivers says an anonymous donor is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Christmas WaterFire. It's scheduled for Dec. 14.

The event is being put on in partnership with the Providence Rescue Mission. Organizers are urging members of the public to bring new unwrapped toys and gifts, food, clothing and other items which will go to the men, women and children served by the non-profit.

The fires will be lit after the lighting of the Christmas tree at the basin at Waterplace Park.
