New water taxi stop opens in Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Charleston is getting a new water taxi stop.

Beginning Wednesday, folks can catch the water taxi from the pier at Charleston's popular Waterfront Park.

Mayor Joe Riley will be on hand to cut the ribbon for the first trips.

Charleston Water Taxi also has a dock at the Charleston Maritime Center on the Charleston peninsula.

Across the harbor in Mount Pleasant, the company also has docks at the Charleston Harbor Resort by Patriots Point and on Shem Creek.

The taxis run from about 9 a.m. to about 7 p.m.
