Water will be shut off at several apartment complexes in Shreveport

Update - It was announced in a letter from the mayor's office that the deadline has been extended to May 31, 2024.

Tenants in several Shreveport apartment complexes will find themselves without water May 14.

“Due to the increasing balances and the respective landlords’ lack of communication and willingness to meet their responsibilities, the City will disconnect water services at Jolie Apartments, Pines Apartments, and Villa Norte Apartments," a letter from Mayor Tom Arceneaux said.

It was noted that city personnel were made aware that residents at Jolie Apartments were given notice that their water and electric utilities would be cut off immediately.

“The Mayor, the Council, and all City personnel regret this horrible situation,” the letter reads.

Assistance was offered and encouraged for the residents by reaching out to the City’s Department of Community Development at (318) 673-5900.

“Going forward, the City will take every available step to collect amounts owed to the tax-paying public, to hold irresponsible landlords accountable, and to do what it can to prevent this situation from happening again,” the letter said
