Watch a water bomber extinguish a truck fire on a remote Canadian highway

Firefighters responding to a truck accident in remote Canada used a water plane to extinguish the blaze, dramatic video shows.

The accident, involving a grader and tractor-trailer, occurred July 30 on the Trans-Labrador Highway about 30 miles east of Churchill Falls, according to CBC Canada.

With emergency vehicles still miles away, the water bomber — thought to be a CL-215 — was called in, dropping water and fire retardant on the blaze.

A video of the dramatic scene was recently posted to YouTube.

The truck driver was pulled to safety before the fire started to engulf the cab. He was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, the CBC said.
