After water main break, Rochester's Lincoln K-8 school to be back in session Thursday

Sep. 13—ROCHESTER — After a water main break caused classes to be canceled at Lincoln K-8 on Wednesday, district officials say school will be back in session on Thursday, Sept. 14.

According to Rochester Public Schools Communications Director Mamisoa Knutson, the school notified families about the situation around 8 a.m. The water break occurred outside and didn't cause any damage to the building, Knutson said.

The reason classes were canceled was because the school had to shut off water access to the building.

In order to get students back to class, the school is making a temporary fix. A more permanent fix will be completed over MEA break in mid-October, Knutson said.

The cost of fixing the water main was not immediately available.

Lincoln K-8 is the only school in the district that serves students in grades K-8. A district wide choice school, it's located along Highway 14 in southeast Rochester. The school has an enrollment of 488 students, according to the September enrollment report.
