Sure, John Tavares’ absurd apple last month was one of the nicest start-to-finish assists you’ll ever see, but Viktor Arvidsson just pulled off the helper of the year.

As the Nashville Predators were heading onto the ice for warmup ahead of Saturday’s contest against the Anaheim Ducks, Arvidsson stopped in front of a jersey-wearing couple, removed his right glove and presented his finger featuring a fresh engagement ring.

The selfless Predators forward wasn’t locking up a partner of his own, though. Instead, he was helping out fan Conor Payne pull off one of the sporting world’s GOAT proposals. After handing a ring to a stunned (now-fiancee) Morgan Landsberg, she promptly grabbed the ring and, of course, said yes.

Payne reportedly approached the team about helping with his proposal plan, according to Adam Vingan of the Tennessean. Arvidsson, who is Landberg’s favourite player, was apparently more than happy to help out.

This much is for certain: there’s no place more romantic to keep an engagement ring safe than within the cozy confines of a soon-to-be-used hockey mitt.
