What to Watch Tonight: The Fall Finales of Castle and The Originals and Special Holiday Episodes of The Fosters and Switched at Birth

What to watch on Monday, December 8...

HOLIDAY SPECIAL, 8pm, ABC Family
The Fosters
"Christmas Past" finds Callie and Jude celebrating their first Yuletide with the Fosters, but Jude's guilt over being adopted spurs him to overcompensate with Callie. In other tinsel-tarnishing tension, Stef takes umbrage with Grandma Sharon's excessive generosity, and a neighbor accuses Jesus of foul play in a house-decorating contest.

FALL FINALE, 8pm, The CW
The Originals
Rebekah is taken aback by the strange shift in Elijah's behavior—he's delusional and homicidal, sure, but even more troubling: He left the top button of his shirt unbuttoned. Elsewhere in "The Map of Moments," Esther conjures a new alliance and spells trouble for Cami, Kaleb shares a century-old spell he created, and Klaus and Haley reunite with their baby daughter.

SEASON 2 PREMIERE, 8pm, ABC
The Great Christmas Light Fight
Another 24 families will vie for the giant, reindeer-shaped, red-and-green-strobe-light-festooned crown (and the $50,000 prize) as the owner of the most ostentatiously decorated home in America. Tonight's first two episodes visit a live-animal Nativity in Tennessee and a "talking house" in Texas, among other tasteful destinations.

8pm, CBS
2 Broke Girls
In "And the Model Apartment," Max and Caroline put their place up for rent on Airbnb. Because they live in both a trendy neighborhood and a network TV sitcom, they attract the attention of two Victoria's Secret supermodels planning a weekend shindig.

SEASON 5 PREMIERE, 8:30pm, CBS
Mike & Molly
Fresh off her stint at the writers' workshop in Iowa, Molly returns to the Windy City in "The Book of Molly." Adding extra excitement to her homecoming: She's locked up a publishing deal and a sweet advance.

HOLIDAY SPECIAL, 9pm, ABC Family
Switched at Birth
"Yuletide Fortune Tellers" asks: What if the switch had never happened? Thanks to Bay and Daphne eating some magical garlic knots, we can find ou—wait, magical garlic knots? Really, show? Sure, why not. Thanks to the, ahem, magical garlic knots, we can peer at a reality in which Daphne is an Olympic hopeful and Bay a flourishing artist. But are these Christmas miracles actually lumps of coal in disguise?

DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE, 9pm, HBO
Regarding Susan Sontag
Filmmaker Nancy D. Kates chronicles the life and career of the prolific writer, critic, and activist through archived materials and interviews with colleagues and loved ones.

9pm, The CW
Jane the Virgin
Xo receives an attractive offer from a music producer, not knowing that Rogelio has pulled a few strings. Meanwhile, Michael closes in on Sin Rostro, Petra horns in on Rafael's happiness, and Jane and Rafael fill in some of their more surprising details.

9pm, CBS
Scorpion
Sylvester accidentally sets off an explosion during an investigation, leaving him little more than a crispy blackened husk and a pair of huge blinking eyes. Can the team find out who is responsible for their friend's fate in "Revenge"?

9pm, TNT
Major Crimes
When a onetime child star turns up dead in "Acting Out," the suspect list includes his manager and his director. In personal affairs, Flynn's daughter pays a visit, and Sharon and Flynn's relationship is exposed.

FALL FINALE, 10pm, ABC
Castle
A slain emergency room doc is revealed to have ties to a mob family headed by an old friend of Castle's. Meanwhile in "Bad Santa," the holiday season brings Esposito and Lanie's relationship to a turning point.

10pm, NBC
State of Affairs
Charlie and Nick receive a threatening text in "Bang, Bang," and I think it's the highly unorthodox use of the poop emoji that makes it truly unnerving. Meanwhile, President Payton's rival, Senator Green, divulges some disturbing details about a senatorial convoy attack report, and Charlie's team brings in extra help to covertly contain a smallpox outbreak in Panama.

10pm, CBS
NCIS: Los Angeles
The team investigates a string of murders targeting Marines with sons in military academies in "Reign Fall." This prompts Sam to consider his relationship with his own father, which would be fine, but the rest of the team would appreciate it if he'd quit playing "Cat's in the Cradle" on a loop after, like, the 500th time already.
