Watch Tesla Show Off How a Self-driving Car Will Take You to Work

All Tesla cars now being produced will have self-driving capabilities, the company revealed in a video and press release this week.

The automaker has already begun production on several models of self-driving cars, and all Tesla vehicles on the road currently have a semi-autonomous hardware called Autopilot.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk is looking to a future where all of the cars his company produces will be fully autonomous, in an effort to make transportation more available to people with disabilities and to improve road safety for everyone.

It will take us some time into the future to complete validation of the software and to get the required regulatory approval, but the important thing is that the foundation is laid for the cars to be fully autonomous at a safety level we believe to be at least twice that of a person, maybe better, Musk said Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Tesla plans to showcase the capabilities of its self-driving cars by sending one of their vehicles on a road trip from Los Angeles to New York by the end of 2017.
