The New Orleans Saints will try to forget a very ugly preseason thus far when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday night.

Bold Predictions: Five bold predictions for Preseason Week 3

Injuries: Updates on DeMarcus Ware, Dez Bryant, Vontae Davis

Power Rankings: Dak Prescott still leads rookie QB rankings

Hard Knocks: Rams football is a business

Though Drew Brees hasn’t played much, the offensive line has been a disappointment, the backup quarterbacks have been disasters, no rookies aside from Michael Thomas have looked at least decent and the defense looks like there hasn’t been any improvement.

On Friday, they’ll get a chance to face arguably the NFL’s most explosive offense, and Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown will see some action, according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

This gives the Saints starters a great chance to be ready for Week 1. They can forget an ugly showing thus far by making some big plays against Big Ben and the NFL’s top wide receiver. Delvin Breaux deserves the shot of trying to slow down the legend of Antonio Brown.

If the Saints starters fail once again, it’ll be interesting to see what cuts Sean Payton and the team makes, and how they’ll try to adjust for Week 1 against the Oakland Raiders.

Another thing to watch for is how Coby Fleener plays. Sean Payton did admit it’s a work in progress, though he has shown some flashes. The team needs the $36 million man to be a big part of the offense.

The Saints need a big test before they host Oakland, and getting to play the starters for limited time on Friday may be all they need to be prepared for the games that matter most.
