BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders held a press conference in Bentonville to discuss the impact the severe weather has had on the community and how she plans to provide relief efforts moving forward.

Joining her for the briefing are Sen. John Boozman, Rep. Steve Womack, Major General Jonathan Stubbs, ADEM Director AJ Gary, Secretary of Public Safety and Director of Arkansas State Police Mike Hagar and local officials from Benton County.

In the press conference, Sanders says there have been eight deaths across Arkansas related to the recent severe weather outbreak.

“Any time you have the loss of life, the loss of homes and businesses and a community impacted in this way, it’s incredibly difficult,” Sanders said. “In the midst of total devestation, the bright points are all of the people coming together, and taking care of one another, and looking out for their neighbors and their community and doing whatever it takes to help get whatever it takes to get people taken care of.”

Sanders says she is willing to call the Arkansas State Guard to help with the cleanup if deemed necessary.
